BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Department of Culture will be sending a delegation to represent St. Kitts and Nevis at the 2017 Caribbean Festival of Art (CARIFESTA) in Bridgetown, Barbados, but the members will not be there on time for the Opening Ceremony.
The Department of Culture made that declaration this morning (Aug. 17) and according to the Director of Culture, Troy Mills, the delegation is expected to be finalized today as a few problems had arisen which caused a setback to their intended proposals.
“The delegation was together for some time, but it took a longer time than we anticipated to have the processes completed for us to be able to go.”
That had however delayed the delegation from leaving St. Kitts and Nevis, but Mills said they are expected to join the festivities on Saturday (Aug. 26).
He declared that the contingent will miss the Opening Ceremony which is slated for tomorrow evening.
“The start is happening tomorrow and we don’t see that we would be able to get there for the start. We are working on leaving and getting there on Saturday.”
