BASSETERRE (13thJuly 2017): Minister of Tourism the Hon. Lindsay F.P. Grant recognized Alceo “Archie” Zuliani as a pioneer in the St. Kitts Tourism industry, while extending his heartfelt condolences to the Zuliani family.
Mr. Zuliani died on Saturday, July 8, in Toronto, Canada, at the age of 77.
“On behalf of the entire tourism industry of St. Kitts and Nevis, I would like to convey sympathy and support to the families and friends of the late Alceo “Archie” Zuliani,” Minister Grant said.
“Mr. Zuliani is responsible for laying the foundation for our thriving tourism industry. He has indeed left a lasting imprint on our Nation’s progress and is rightfully acknowledged as a true trailblazer in the sector.”
Mr. Zuliani opened the doors of the Royal St. Kitts Hotel and Casino in 1983, which was the first hotel to be built in the Frigate Bay area, a significant milestone in the development of St. Kitts into a tourist destination.
